• Field IT & Security Systems Technician

    Posted: 11/02/2026

Cayman Technologies is looking for a hands-on Field IT & Security Systems Technician to join our team.

This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with both IT and physical technology. One day you may be installing network cabling and wireless access points, and the next you could be troubleshooting a PC, installing cameras, working on an alarm system, or helping resolve a network issue at a customer's location.

We're looking for someone who already has a solid technical foundation but wants the opportunity to learn, grow, and expand their skills alongside an experienced team.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Install and troubleshoot Cat5e/Cat6 network cabling
    • Terminate and test RJ45 connections, keystones and patch panels
    • Install and troubleshoot switches, routers and wireless access points
    • Install and service PCs, monitors, printers and other IT equipment
    • Troubleshoot basic Windows and network problems
    • Install and troubleshoot IP camera systems and NVRs
    • Assist with security and intrusion-alarm systems
    • Work with Alarm.com systems
    • Install and troubleshoot PoE devices
    • Install network racks, patch panels, UPS systems and related equipment
    • Assist with VoIP phone installations and troubleshooting
    • Perform onsite service calls at customer locations
    • Document work performed and keep service tickets updated
    • Work alongside experienced Cayman technicians on larger projects

    What We're Looking For

    Required:
    • Hands-on experience with network cabling and low-voltage systems
    • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, Wi-Fi and PoE
    • Experience installing or troubleshooting PCs and Windows devices
    • Comfortable using hand tools and network/cable testing equipment
    • Comfortable working on ladders and in network closets and equipment rooms
    • Strong troubleshooting ability
    • Professional appearance and good customer communication skills
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Dependable and able to work independently after training
Experience with any of the following is a big plus:
    • Alarm.com
    • IP camera/security systems
    • Ubiquiti UniFi equipment
    • Access-control systems
    • VoIP/RingCentral
    • Firewalls, switches and wireless networks
    • Structured cabling
    • MSP or IT service-company experience
You don't need to know every system we use. We're more interested in finding someone with a good technical foundation, mechanical ability, common sense and the willingness to learn.

    The Right Person

We're looking for someone who likes figuring things out and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
You should be equally comfortable sitting in front of a computer troubleshooting a network problem and climbing a ladder to install a camera or wireless access point.

This is not strictly a help-desk position. It's a combination of IT, networking, low-voltage cabling, cameras/security systems and field service.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to develop their skills and build a long-term career with Cayman Technologies.

    Why Cayman Technologies?

We're a local technology company supporting businesses throughout Central Ohio. You'll have an opportunity to work with a wide variety of technologies and customer environments rather than doing the same thing every day.
You'll also work directly with experienced technicians who can teach you the systems, customers and troubleshooting skills that only come from years in the field.

    Position: Full-time
Location: Pickerington / Columbus, Ohio area
Work environment: Combination of customer sites and office/shop work
Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional project or after-hours work as needed

    Compensation: based on experience
