Dr. Elizabeth Walz, Fairfield Medical Center neurologist will be presenting the program "Memory Matters: Understanding Dementia". Dementia is an "umbrella term" describing a variety of diseases and conditions that develop when nerve cells in the brain die or no longer function normally. The changes in these cells, cause changes in one's memory, behavior and ability to think clearly. Dr. Walz will differentiate between normal aging and dementia onset. She will discuss the behavior aspects of dementia and hence the stress to patients and caregivers. Various community resources will be shared with the audience so they can find answers for themselves and loved ones. The presentation is free and open to the community however seating is limited so registration is requested to attend. Call Lisa at SOCIL, 740.689.1494 ext. 10 to register.
