BACKGROUND
The Pickerington LEADS Program was created to
develop strong, local leadership. The Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce
believes it is the community’s responsibility to identify and to develop a
diverse group of civic leaders to serve this community’s future needs. We accept
our civic duty to help cultivate those new leaders.
PROGRAM FORMAT
Pickerington LEADS Program is a blended
curriculum of general leadership skills, guest speakers and hands on practical
experience. The program focuses on various topics, including Personality and
Leadership Styles, Time Management and Organizational Skills,
City/Township/County Government Roles and Responsibilities, Communications,
Employee Recruiting and Retention, Marketing and Advertising, and Servant
Leadership.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet
with local civic leaders throughout the program and gain exposure to various
views on effective community leadership while broadening their base of
information about the community and how it operates.
Pickerington LEADS Program will include 8 sessions held twice a month and a graduation ceremony.
Attendance is mandatory. In addition to the class time, all participants must
complete a group project that requires a time commitment outside of class.
PARTICIPANTS
Pickerington LEADS Program seeks individuals
with leadership talent or potential, and those who have shown or have an
interest in community service. LEADS graduates have demonstrated increased
leadership responsibilities both within their companies and their communities.
They have developed a broad network in the community and established lifelong
